Dimapur, July 11 (EMN): Native Feathers edged past Dimapur FC 3-1 to emerge champion in the Futsal Tournament 6A Side organized by the Naharbari Youth Association (NYA).

Earlier, Native Feathers managed to scrape through to the finals with 1-0 win against Rubo FC, while in the other semi final match Dimapur FC overcame Red Scars with a convincing 2-0 win.

Ngamsi of NF was adjudged the best goalkeeper and Dimapur FC’s Apu took the highest scorer title, NYA informed in a press release.

The two-day tournament was played at Junkyard Turf, Padumpukhuri, with the motto, “Unity through sport.”

According to NYA, the closing ceremony was graced by Founder & Chair, YouthNet, Hekani Jakhalu Kense, as guest of honour.

Kense in her address said that sports teach five fundamental qualities that also apply to being successful in life: leadership, team building, setting goals, staying focus and perseverance.

She said that young people in Nagaland though talented are easily distracted and inconsistent and encouraged the young players to apply the same fundamentals they learn in football in their own professional lives, the release stated.

Kense also encouraged young people to avail opportunities and get access to information through the youth resources centre that YouthNet is setting up with Naharbari Youth Association.
