Dimapur, Dec. 19 (EMN):
Johnny Ruangmei, head of Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), on Saturday said that today’s technology has affected the education sector in ‘destructive ways in the form of virtual and open realities’.

Stating that students today could learn about human beings and human autonomy much better in the form of augmented realities, he appealed the teachers to connect with those changes.

Ruangmei stated this while inaugurating a new building at Holy Cross Higher Secondary School in Dimapur.

He shared that a building signifies an ’eminent figure in every culture and is the very essence that builds a body’ adding that the new school building also holds significance and should stand for newer wisdom and knowledge.

“Seeing is believing and looking at this building, we all believe that this is really going to impact the students and teachers in the coming days,’ Ruangmei added.

Also speaking at the programme, Rev. Dr. James Thoppil said that the Catholic church is for the service of the people and added that every penny that is saved, ‘is put back into Nagaland itself for the advancement, development, progress and building up places of Nagaland’.

Thoppil said that they were able to save every penny and put it back again into the school. He has accredited the success to every priest and nun. The bishop added that priests and nuns are living on minimum allowance and the remuneration that is saved is added into the mission work.

‘The real wealth of the Catholic church is their personal wealth that provides 24×7 service to the people and the Catholic church would try its best to serve people faithfully with commitment and at lowest cost as possible,’ Thoppil added.

Presenting a report on the building construction, chairman of Holy Cross Rev. Fr. Thomas Panamthanam said the new school building was constructed not to accommodate more students but to provide better facilities for the students.

Panamthanam informed that new building consisted of 24 spacious classrooms and one office.

He said the building completed at the cost of INR 3 crore and added that due to the pandemic situation, the school has waived off school fees amounting to INR 56, 98,250.
