New Ceasefire Monitoring Group chairman calls on Nagaland Chief Minister

Kohima, Oct. 7 (EMN): Chief Minister of Nagaland Neiphiu Rio on Wednesday met with the newly appointed chairman of ceasefire monitoring group and ceasefire supervisory board (CFMG/CFSB), Nagaland, Lt Gen. (Retd) Amarjeet Singh Bedi in Kohima.
“Lieutenant General Amarjeet Singh Bedi, Chairman Ceasefire Monitoring Group (CFMG) Nagaland, called on me. I wish him the best in his new role,” Rio tweeted on Wednesday.
Bedi was appointed as the new CFMG and CSFB chairman on September 11 by the Ministry of Home, Government of India, 15 days after former chairman Lt Gen. Shokin Chauhan vacated his position on August 28.
Earlier, a reliable source had informed that Bedi reached Nagaland in the end of September before going under home quarantine. The source added that he would assume his office after the completion of quarantine.
Bedi served as the general officer commanding (GOC) of IV corps located at Tezpur, Assam from November 25, 2016 to December 28, 2017.
