DIMAPUR — A new branch of the State Bank of India (SBI) was inaugurated at 7th Mile, Chümoukedima, on Monday, with chairperson of Chümoukedima Town Council, Lhousito Khro, cutting the ribbon in the presence of the chief general manager of Guwahati Circle, SBI, Sahadevan Radhakrishnan.

Speaking on the occasion, Khro said that banking in the past was primarily about simple cash deposits and withdrawals, but it has now become an indispensable part of daily life.

Noting that banking has advanced to such an extent that life without access to these services has become almost unimaginable, Khro expressed gratitude to the SBI for establishing branches within easy reach of the public. He highlighted that the people of Chümoukedima now enjoy the privilege of having eight SBI banking institutions in their area.

The chairperson mentioned that working in banking is a highly respected profession, but it is also enduring and tiresome. He urged the staff to exert more endurance in their professional roles and to go the extra mile in serving the public.

He mentioned that Chümoukedima is a fast-growing town and is poised to become a city in the near future, which will necessitate the establishment of even more banks and this growth not only reflects the town’s expansion but also highlights the rising demand for accessible banking services.

Addressing the gathering, Radhakrishnan said that the branch can play a very active role in the development of society. Therefore, it is the responsibility of the branch staff to provide service with a smile and support the customers.
