Dimapur, Oct. 22 (EMN): A team comprising of officials from the Nagaland Foothill Road Coordination Committee (NFHRCC) and PWD (R&B) led by the additional chief engineer and contractors undertook a joint inspection tour to the ongoing motorable foothill road construction in Dimapur, Longleng, Tuli, Mangkolemba and Naganimora division on October 20.

An update from NFHRCC informed that the committee would submit its observation to the department at the earliest.

The committee has urged upon the contractor of Tizit and Mangkolemba divisions to start the work as soon as possible. It added that the chief engineer of PWD (R&B) would personally visit the Baghty division in Wokha along with the NFHRCC on a later date soon.

A team led by additional chief engineer of (R&B), Hozeto Sumi, also visited the Doyang bridge construction site at the Governor’s Camp at Liphanyan in Wokha district along with the members of NFHRCC.

The committee stated that additional chief engineer has expressed satisfaction on the progress made on the construction despite of various chanllenges over the years. It added that the Doyang Bridge was almost completed and would be inaugurated at the earliest.

It mentioned that the bridge at Governor’s camp, the 3rd bridge over River Doyang and longest in Nagaland, was started in 2014 as part of the foothills road initiatives spearheaded by the CSOs in 2013. It added that the chief minister, Neiphiu Rio, and the deputy chief minister, Y Patton, had provided additional funding to make the foothill road motorable in 2021.
