Dimapur, Oct. 29 (EMN): Nagaland Medical Dealers’ Association (NMDA) has lauded the understanding arrived at between the department of Municipal Affairs and DMC Employees’ Welfare Union (DMCEWU) which resulted in the suspension of the latter’s proposed indefinite strike till November 8.

An update from NMDA stated that the development has come as a relief to the people of Dimapur stating that the intended strike would have severe impact on the city. NMDA has appealed to all the parties involved to resolve the issue at the earliest.

NMDA expressed as it is a time when the prevalence of dengue and other air borne diseases are widespread. It stated that piling up of garbage would only add to the problem and accelerate cases of infection.

NMDA has also questioned on the fund utilisation collected from the sanitation fees, renewal fees of trade licenses etc. as well as funds available with the department from different sources including those received from government of India from time to time.

NMDA further appreciated the Governor of Nagaland on closure of all the toll gates and made its stand clear that it would strictly oppose to reopening of any toll gate in the future.
