No more political appointments, says Azo at PWUKseminar
KOHIMA — MLA Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu said on Saturday that it has been made clear that any appointment will now be done on a merit basis, quoting chief minister Neiphiu Rio and saying that there are no more backdoor appointments and no more political appointments.
He was speaking at a one-day seminar on the promotion of the economic, educational, and sports sectors at Forest Colony community hall in Kohima, which was organised by the Phekmi Welfare Union Kohima (PWUK).
The leader of the NPF Legislature Party, speaking on the occasion, called upon the students to develop a competitive spirit and advised them to stay on the right track and achieve their goals.
Azo challenged the students to be among the ‘best of the best’ and to go the extra mile in order to succeed in life.
The resource persons for the seminar were Neichute Doulo, CEO of Entrepreneurs Associates; Niikutulii S Venuh, ADC of Atoizu, Zunheboto; and Surhoneyi Soho, a silver medalist in the National Belt Wrestling Championship.
Doulo, on the occasion, talked about ‘livelihood, self-employment, and entrepreneurship’ while Venuh spoke about ‘fostering the spirit of competitiveness’. Soho spoke on the topic ‘be a sports professional through physical fitness’.
The seminar sessions were led by Shevoduyi Venuh, Zhohuve Venuh, Rukuvolu Hoshi, and Vikedu Nienu, while Hukuyi Venuh, assistant professor at Capital College of Higher Education, served as the coordinator for the event.
