NSCN (IM) chairman outlines vital role of women in freedom movement
Dimapur, Feb. 24 (EMN): Chairman of the NSCN (IM), Q Tuccu, has lauded the vital role played by women in the freedom movement with their prayerful involvement for peace and the courage to stand upright at all times defending the Naga people’s right.
Tuccu stated this during the 13th general assembly of the National Socialist Women’s Organisation of Nagalim (NSWON), on February 23 at its central headquarters, Hebron. Stating that the task of nation building is an arduous task that involves men as much as women, he stated that NSWON had come a long way ever since it was formed on March 15, 1981 and made their presence felt in the nation building process.
He urged the gathering to let the 13th general assembly strengthen their spirit of nationalism as they are passing through a challenging period.
“You have a meaningful role to play to instill courage and hope in our political struggle for our God’s given right because you are the cornerstone of Naga society,” Tuccu said adding that NSCN (IM) need their contribution more than ever before to build a strong and vibrant Naga nation.
He expressed happiness to note that there are many wonderful and inspirational women trying their best to advance women’s role as they stand side by side with men to make more meaning of women in the Naga political struggle. He said the Naga nation owed them because of their increasing level of political education, which would go a long way to unleash their power for a better future.
He also urged them to always keep in mind that they formed the political base upon which the male leaders could rise up higher in the service of the nation.
“You hold the logic of patriotic spirit pushing the men to go forward and never to look back in the fight for national liberation,” Tuccy added.
On the occasion, he also called upon the gathering to remember many fallen women who suffered martyrdom so that they might be inspired by their sacrificial spirits as they embrace death to give a better future.
In conclusion, he reminded that women have enormous responsibilities, first to God, then to men and finally to the nation. He advised them to never shy away from these responsibilities. He further advised to strike a balance without neglecting any of those responsibilities.
