DIMAPUR — The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) is set to organise “The Naga Morung” on August 14 at the NBCC Convention Centre in Kohima. The theme for the event is “Kuknalim” (Victory to the people and land).
In a press statement, the NSF announced that the event will begin at 10 am and invited all Nagas to join this significant gathering.
The NSF highlighted that historically, the Naga Morung was the cornerstone of Naga society, serving as a crucial institution where young Nagas learnt their customs, traditions, and history.
However, it noted that in recent times, the decline of this tradition has led to generational gaps in understanding the historical and political heritage of the Naga people.
The objectives of the event include educating young Nagas about the Naga national movement, fostering a sense of pride, unity, and purpose among the youth, providing a comprehensive account of the Naga people’s pursuit of self-determination, highlighting significant milestones and key figures, and inspiring the younger generation to preserve and promote Naga identity and heritage.
The programme will feature historians and scholars, with panels addressing contemporary issues faced by young Nagas, their role in the community, and their contributions to the future of the Naga people.
