One dies in hit-and-run case

Dimapur — In a hit-and-run case, one person died on the spot after being hit by an unidentified vehicle near Dimapur toll tax gate at Burma Camp in Dimapur on Saturday morning at around 3:30 am.

An officer from traffic police Zone-1 informed that they received information regarding the incident in the earlier morning. He added that upon investigation, it was ascertained that the deceased sustained head injury and died on the spot.

The officer informed that the body was shifted to District Hospital Dimapur morgue for identification and post mortem examination and added that so far no family member has come forward to claim the body.

As there was no eyewitness, he stated that the police are currently investigating the incident and checking for any nearby CCTV cameras that might have recorded the incident.

The unidentified deceased was a non-Naga, aged around 28 to 30 years, with height around 5’3 feet. He was wearing blue/red checked shirt, blue jean pant, black belt and a pair of red slippers.
