One injured while trying to escape police in Karbi Anglong

Diphu, Dec. 21 (EMN): A robber was injured in a police firing while trying to escape from police custody in Diphu on Tuesday.

The victim was identified as one Sagar Gawala of Jalpaiguri in West Bengal.

The incident happened when, one person Raju Rongphar of Ok-Kereng under Howraghat police station had come to Diphu SBI to withdraw cash INR 22 lakh which was supposed to be paid to Mahilas of Howraghat for their contractual works.

The culprit who followed him to the car snatched the bag and tried to escape who was then caught by passerby. He was then handed over to Diphu police. 

Addressing the media, Superintendent of Police, Karbi Anglong, Sanjib Kumar Saikia said, the culprit was caught by the public and police while trying to escape at Diphu branch SBI in broad daylight. A case has been registered.
