DIMAPUR — The inaugural Open Futsal Tournament, organised by the Orangkong Students’ Nyengching Unit in Longleng, commenced on Thursday at the public playground in Longleng.
SDO (Civil) Longleng, Meyazungba Jamir, attended the occasion as the chief guest, according to a DIPR report.
In his speech, Jamir expressed his fondness for futsal and lauded the organisers and the participants for coming together and promoting the game at a place like Longleng with fewer infrastructures with regard to the game.
He also encouraged the players to play in such a way that one day they would be able to represent Nagaland at various levels. He expressed his wish to see the young players playing at the highest level.
He also mentioned that soon Longleng district would be establishing its own futsal ground under the initiative of the government, like in other districts of Nagaland.
