Patkai Christian College celebrates 49th foundation day
DIMAPUR — Patkai Christian College (Autonomous) celebrated its 49th foundation day on Monday at Bundrock Chapel Hall, PCC.
To commemorate the occasion, Dr. Thepfüvilie Pierü, principal of PCC, and Rev. Dr. Vichükho Ngukha, chaplain of PCC, presented representatives of donor villages – Chümoukidema and Seithekima – with a rooster and salt in accordance with Angami customary practices.
This practice of acknowledging and reaffirming the donation has been followed since the college’s inception.
A press note from the college mentioned that Rev. Dr. Tuisem Shishak, principal emeritus, said the prayer of blessings and unveiled the golden jubilee logo, which was presented by AG Samuel, assistant professor, department of Political Science.
On the occasion, Dr. Kevingulie Khro, member of the BOT and treasurer, stated that the occasion brought forth a reflection of the past, an encouragement reminding the college of the past journey that has brought the college to this point as it embarked on another year’s success.
“This is the time to remember all those who have struggled to shape this college. It’s time to say thank you. Five decades ago, the place was a jungle, and it was a roaming place for wild animals, but today we have one of the best and finest colleges in the northeast of India,” he said.
Patkai Christian College was founded on the belief that education should include students’ complete development within the framework of moral absolutes, he added. He also presented the semester topper award.
Students from the Margaret Shishak School of Music performed a special song, and Thingri Sareo, vice principal of Patkai Higher Secondary School, and Kenny Tep, president of the Evangelical Union, PCC, read scripture from the Old and New Testaments, respectively.
