Patton inaugurates new SP office building in Mokokchung

DIMAPUR — Deputy Chief Minister, Y Patton, has inaugurated a new office building of the Superintendent of Police, Mokokchung, in the presence of other legislators and government officials on Wednesday.

While acknowledging the Mokokchung village for providing the land for the construction of SP and DIG range offices, Patton remarked that it lacked parking space. In this regard, he has requested the Mokokchung village council and leaders for more land. He has assured to personally supervise so that requisite amounts for the acquired land are paid as per the government’s rate.

On the occasion, he reminded that the concerned authority would not be able to enforce law and order without the cooperation and support of the public. He added that both the public and the law enforcement agency need to cooperate to solve any problems that might arise in the district.

Based on an unofficial report, Patton also disclosed that Wokha district has the highest number of drug peddlers in Nagaland followed by Mokokchung district. In this connection, he has sought cooperation from the public to tackle the menace of drug addiction in society. He has, however, cautioned that the public should not take laws into their own hands but hand over such cases to the concerned authority for necessary actions.

Construction of the new SP’s office with a plinth area of 3,073.10 sq. ft. commenced in March 2016 and was completed in April 2020 with an estimated cost of INR 2,16,32,900.

Short speeches were also delivered by minister Metsubo Jamir and ADGP (Adm), Renchamo P Kikon ADGP, while the welcome address was delivered by SP of Mokokchung, Manojkumar A.
