PM lays foundation stone for 553 railway stations including 23 in NFR

DIMAPUR — Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid foundation stones and inaugurated around 2000 railway infrastructure projects worth more than INR 41,000 crore via video conferencing on Monday.

The projects taken up under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme include 553 railway stations, which will be revamped with modern facilities similar to those in airports, and construction of more than 1500 road over bridges and underpasses, said an update from N.F. Railway (NFR).

Of the 553 railway stations which will be developed, 23 of them worth INR 685.32 crore fall under NFR, out of which 11 stations namely Haibargaon,Gohpur, Harmuti, Majbat, Pathsala, Tangla, Udalguri, Viswanath Chariali, Murkongselek, North Lakhimpur and Silapathar are from Assam; 3 namely Arariya Court, Labha and Salmari are from Bihar; 6 namely Balurghat, Bhaluka Road, Harischandrapur, Kumedpur Jn., Malda Court and Siliguri Jn are from West Bengal; and three stations from Mizoram (Sairang), Sikkim (Rangpo) and Tripura (Agartala).

Foundation stones were laid for five underpasses and two road over bridges, as well as one underpass under N.F. Railway worth approximate INR 111.49 crore inaugurated. Underpasses will be constructed at different locations namely Bargaon Road, Tahura, Nonke Bongali and two at Dhemaji Bari. Further, two road over bridges will be constructed in Bihar at Belauri and Daichan gate.

Further, more than 1000 school students were awarded at various places over N.F. Railway for participating in various events under the theme “Developed Nation & Developed Railway of 2047.
