Pre-Subroto-cum-Junior Football Tournament: Chümoukedima dominates Dimapur

KOHIMA — A total of six matches were played on the second day of the ongoing state-level Pre-Subroto-cum-Junior Football Tournament at Indira Gandhi Stadium (IGS) in Kohima.

In the first match, Chümoukedima outshone Dimapur with an 8-2 victory. Lamirlen Thangeo opened the scoring in the 2nd minute and went on to complete a hat-trick with goals in the 13th, 27th, and 31st minutes. The scorer for Dimapur was Henkalung in the 27th and 45th minutes.

Chümoukedima saw Chonminngan net a goal in the 9th minute, followed by Paogunhau Hengma extending the lead with goals in the 32nd and 59th minutes. Furthermore, D Leo Becho chipped in with another goal in the 55th minute for the team.

The second match, scheduled as a contest between Wokha and Tuensang, turned out to be a walkover victory for Wokha. Tuensang was unable to meet the technical specifications, resulting in their forfeiture of the match.

In the third match, Peren secured a 2-1 victory over Mokokchung. Mokokchung took the lead, with Laito scoring in the 15th minute. However, Peren gained momentum in the second half, with Manginglal Hangsing equalising in the 37th minute, followed quickly by Hangsing scoring another goal in the 40th minute.

In the fourth match, Nuiland defeated Tseminyu with a 4-0 victory. Nickey Kath scored an own goal in the 13th minute, while the other three goals were contributed by Angukavi Yeptho in the 26th and 45th minutes, with Anguvi Kiho adding another goal in the 54th minute.

In the fifth match, the game between Mon and Kiphire ended in a draw. The first goal was scored by Chingmei for Mon, which was later equalised by Limlemong for Kiphire in the 57th minute. In the sixth match, Phek faced Zunheboto and secured a victory with two goals scored by Tsutso.

In the seventh and final match, Kohima faced Shamator and suffered a two-goal defeat. The first goal came from an own goal by Kedu in the 26th minute, followed by a goal from Amongba in the 41st minute, securing Shamator’s win.

On the third day, the matches will commence with Nuiland and Wokha playing the first match, starting at 7 am.
