Diphu, March 22 (EMN): Showing resentment on the illegal coal mining and sand and stone business practicing across Karbi Anglong, the President of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) Bhupen Kumar Borah said that a strong protest would be held to expose the massive corruption on the exploitation of forest resources.

Bhupen Kumar Borah said this while briefing the media persons in Diphu after attending an extended executive meeting with party leaders. The meeting was held at the Karbi Anglong District Congress Committee (KADCC) office.

He claimed that with the coming of BJP power at Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), the natural resources of Karbi Anglong have been mercilessly exploited.

He said, “the BJP ruled KAAC is infested with massive corruption. There is coal, sand and stone syndicate flourishing in Karbi Anglong. The Congress party has taken a decision today to launch a strong protest to expose the massive corruption involved by the BJP ruled KAAC.”

He also claimed that there is massive corruption involved in the ongoing four-lane road construction of NH-36 from Doboka to Dimapur as the genuine land owners are not getting compensation for their land. Congress will take up the issue at the state level, the APCC president said.

Borah said the strengthening of the party in the three hill districts of Karbi Anglong, West Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao has been entrusted to Hill Districts Congress Coordination Committee headed by former HAD minister Kharsing Engti as the Chairman.
