DIMAPUR — The department of Rural Development (RD) bid farewell to its outgoing commissioner and secretary, Neposo Theluo, on Saturday at the RD directorate conference hall in Kohima.
Theluo is retiring on superannuation after 37 years and seven months, according to a press note issued by the department. He joined the government service in 1986 as an inspector of vigilance and anti-corruption through the NPSC.
Minister of RD and State Institute of Rural Development (SIRD), Metsubo Jamir, lauded the outgoing officer for his contribution and dedication towards the upliftment of rural areas and also acknowledged his sincerity and patience in leading the department as administrative head of the department.
He maintained that the department has been functioning very steadily under his guidance and noted that there would be a huge gap in the administration in his absence.
Speaking on behalf of the department, director of RD, Azenuo Pienyü, congratulated the outgoing officer for attaining superannuation in good health and wished him the best for his future endeavours.
In his farewell speech, Theluo expressed his gratitude to the state government for giving him the opportunity to serve in such an important department, as well as the constant support and coordination extended to him by his subordinates.
He also reminded all officers of the importance of their positions and the need to value their work in order to bring about positive changes and development in rural areas.
