Representation of 8 Naga MLAs solved the present political imbroglio — K Therie
DIMAPUR — Former NPCC president K Therie said on Thursday that the representation of eight Naga MLAs in Manipur expressing support to Manipur CM Biren Singh is a milestone in the history of the Naga political struggle.
In a press statement, Therie added that the MLAs of Nagaland should therefore be clear that the Nagas of Manipur desire to live within Manipur state.
He said that everyone has seen UNC and NSCN (IM) condemn the representation, and the eight MLAs were elected with their support; however, despite the denial, the MLAs have not withdrawn.
They are legal representatives of the people, and what they tender is legal before the ruling government, he noted.
Therie alleged that the BJP and the NDPP did not seek a mandate to implement agreed political solutions and that they removed RN Ravi from the governorship as he was pressing for a solution.
“They had resolved in the state assembly ‘to resume talks’, even after two agreements were signed. As such, the recent mandate is not to implement political solutions,” he claimed, adding that people should not be fooled by flag and constitution demands anymore.
If there is any disagreement over the framework agreement, talks should be at the level of the Prime Minister, for change can happen only at the prime ministerial level, he maintained.
