Dimapur, Feb. 2 (EMN): Heavy rockslides occurred on NH-29, between Chumoukedima Police Check gate and New Chumoukedima village on Tuesday morning, blocking all vehicular traffic.

A traffic police officer confirmed to Eastern Mirror that three people were injured, while four vehicles were damaged by the rock debris.

The officer informed that the injured people were in “stable condition.”

Following the incident, Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur, Rajesh Soundararajan, issued a circular prohibiting vehicular traffic between Chathe River Bridge (Patkai Bridge) to Khuokhi River Bridge (Kukidolong).

“Total restriction on all movement is necessitated as a precautionary measure to prevent any injury, loss of life and damage to property,” he stated.

Public has been advised to take the alternative route from Dimapur- Kohima/ Kohima- Dimapur for light vehicles only via 7th Mile – New DC office – Shokhuvi – Razaphe – Mhaikam – Pimla – Mhainamtsi – Jhornapani/Medziphema and vice versa.

The concerned may take note of the same for necessary action, he added. Dimapur Police also tweeted, “The road stretch from Police Gate to TL Park area on NH29 will be closed #indefinitely for vehicle traffic till debris is cleared completely at the rock slide affected area. Alternate route Chumoukedima-Pimla-Mhainamtsi-Medziphema”.
