DIMAPUR — The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) recovered stolen goods worth INR 1,74,600 during regular checking at different railway stations between August 29 and August 31 and arrested 11 persons involved in theft of passengers’ belongings.
An update from NFR chief PRO, Sabyasachi De, stated that the Crime Prevention and Detection Squad of RPF at Katihar apprehended three persons and recovered three mobile phones stolen from passengers worth INR 32,000 on August 29. It stated that the recovered mobile phones and the apprehended persons were handed over to the officer in-charge of GRP, Katihar, for further necessary proceedings.
In another incident on August 31, the RPF team of Guwahati conducted a checking drive at Guwahati railway station and apprehended one person with a bag containing one gold chain, one gold ring, one mobile phone and other valuables worth around INR 60,600. It alleged that the items were stolen from a passenger of train no.13175 (Sealdah-Silchar) Kanchanjungha Express.
It stated the recovered items and the apprehended person were handed over to officer in-charge of GRP, Guwahati, for further necessary proceedings.
It mentioned that the RPF of NF Railway has been playing a dynamic role in providing full-scale security to the rail users ranging from rescuing teenage boys and girls, arresting touts, and recovering narcotics or left behind and stolen baggage. The personnel have also made commendable services to extend guidance and assistance to the rail users besides their task of ensuring security for the passengers.
