DIMAPUR — The sub-divisional officer (SDO) of Tuensang, Sentilong Ozukum, launched the Social Awareness and Action Plan to Neutralise Pneumonia Successfully (SAANS) in the conference hall of the chief medical officer (CMO) in Tuensang on November 13.
Speaking at the launched programme, Ozukum emphasised the severity of pneumonia particularly among children, stating that it could be dangerous if left untreated. However, he highlighted that pneumonia is preventable through medical treatment and the creation of social awareness.
A DIPR report stated that he expressed the importance of conducting social awareness programmes on pneumonia in the district, with the collaboration of the Health and Family Welfare and other allied departments.
The programme was chaired by Mongko Chollen, DPM NHM, while a presentation on SAANS was made by Dr. Imtijungshi Aier, DPO RCH/UIP.
The event saw the participation of representatives from the Medical department, NSRLM, AWW, ASHA workers and NGOs in Tuensang town.
