SAMETI conducts training on fish farming in Medziphema

DIMAPUR —The State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI) organised a two-day training on scientific management of ponds and fishery-based integrated farming systems in the north-east on May 16 and 17 in Medziphema.

During the training, Dr. Jyotish Barman, scientist (fisheries) at the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) North Eastern Region (NER) Nagaland Centre in Jharnapani, Nagaland, along with Imtisunep, district fishery officer of Dimapur, emphasised the importance of integrated fish farming and scientific management of ponds and fisheries in the north-east.

The participants were also taken on a field visit to the ICAR Fishery Farm and Brooder Fish Farm, Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, Dimapur.

The valedictory programme was chaired by Yezaho Swu, deputy project director (DPD) of SAMETI. Feedback on the training was provided by the participants and certificates were distributed to the trainees.
