School department to undertake achievement survey

DIMAPUR — In compliance with the recent directive from the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), New Delhi, the School Education department would undertake State Education Achievement Survey (SEAS) for the year 2023 beginning from November 3 simultaneously with other states and union territories.

A DIPR report stated that the survey would encompass a total of 1643 schools comprising 805 government schools, 800 private schools and 38 central schools.

The primary objective of SEAS was to assess the learning levels of students from classes 3, 6, and 9. SEAS endeavours would involve 36,833 students and engage 1,843 field investigators.

In preparation for the vital exercise, it stated that orientations for the district nodal officers, block coordinators and field investigators assigned for the survey would be conducted in a phased manner during October 2023.

“Given the paramount importance of SEAS, adequate arrangements must be made to ensure that the classes in the 1,643 sample schools mentioned are not engaged in any other activities on November 3, 2023. All stakeholders associated with SEAS, namely the Directorate of School Education, SCERT, NBSE, and Samagra Shiksha, have been directed to make the necessary preparations to ensure the successful execution of this survey in the state,” the report stated.

In light of the importance and urgency of the upcoming survey, a one-day training session would be organised on October 20 at the Capital Convention Centre, near the Secretariat Complex in Kohima at 10 am.

In this regards, District Education Office (DEO), District Mission Authority (DMA), and District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), have been directed to mandatorily attend the training.

It further informed that travel allowances (TA) and daily allowances (DA) would be provided by the norms outlined by Samagra Shiksha.
