DIMAPUR — Considering the unrelenting extreme heat waves and in response to the appeal made by the Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) for extension of summer break, majority of the schools in Dimapur have acceded to extend summer break by a week or two.

However, it was reported that some schools have extended the break only for the lower section, while regular classes for higher section beginning from class 6 have started in full swing from August 1.

The extension of the summer break was necessitated following an appeal made by the Dimapur Naga Students’ Union due to soaring temperature and considering the health and safety of the students.

As per report received, some schools have extended the summer break by complying to the appeal made by DNSU, while some schools have gone ahead with reopening of schools.

Report also stated that certain educational institutions have extended their summer break following appeals to consider the safety of the students and the teaching staffs.

DNSU had warned that schools, not adhering to its request, would be held solely responsible in the event of any adverse health issues arise due to the heat.
