Seminar on ‘Sustainable development goal 3: good health and well-being’ and launch of website “Leaving no one behind”

KOHIMA — With the objective to achieve the sustainable development goals (SDG), a seminar on ‘Sustainable development goal 3: good health and well-being’ and launch of a website “Leaving no one behind” was held at LCS building in Kohima on Tuesday. The event was organised by the National Foundation for India, in collaboration with ARK Foundation.

Speaking at the seminar, Dr. P Ngully, psychiatrist, highlighted the importance of nutrition, which is essential for a good health, and the importance of drinking water, getting sufficient sunshine, doing out exercises, getting sufficient sleep and rest. He pointed out that psychological baggage as much as emotional baggage is weighing down a person. He, therefore, stressed on the need to have a mental hygiene stating that loneliness is a major killer.

While observing that human beings have the tendency of fear of rejection and failure, Dr. Ngully asserted that failure should not become an obstruction in life.

Ketho Angami, president of ARK Foundation, spoke on Tuberculosis (TB), transmission and factors that lead a person to get exposed. He pointed out that India’s ambitious target as a country working to eliminate TB by 2025 is five years ahead of the sustainable development goal of eliminating TB worldwide by 2030.

He shared that TB is the leading infectious cause of death worldwide while it is estimated that one-fourth of the world is infected with TB. He further shared about the various treatment facilities available for an infected person and called for a collective effort to achieve sustainable goals on all fronts.

On the occasion, Dr. Joyce Zinyu Angami, president of Nagaland Medical Council, launched the website “Leaving no one behind.”

Earlier, Vekulu Demo, district field coordinator of ARK Foundation, delivered the introduction about the project and welcomed the participants represented by HRLN, Kohima district legal service authority, NGOs and others.
