Seminar promotes cooperative entrepreneurship at Tetso College

DIMAPUR — The Cooperative Training Centre (CTC), Department of Cooperation, in collaboration with Tetso College, Chümoukedima, organised a seminar on the cooperative movement on Tuesday at the college.

According to a press release, the seminar was sponsored by the National Cooperative Union of India, New Delhi, Ministry of Cooperation, and aimed to promote cooperative entrepreneurship. The target audience for the event was the final-year students.

The chairperson of the seminar was lecturer Kegwahi Kent, CTC, Medziphema, and the keynote address was delivered by principal Chubamenla, CTC.

In her speech, Chubamenla emphasised the state’s unemployment rate and highlighted how the cooperative business model offers alternatives founded on self-reliance and self-help.

Dr. Rosy Tep, vice principal of Tetso College, in her address discussed how Naga society has been a vital component of collective cooperation and how such a movement could significantly contribute to the state’s economic growth.

The programme also included three technical sessions. Bokato Hesso, deputy registrar of cooperative societies, shared insights on the cooperative movement; Rokovisa Chase, deputy registrar of cooperative societies, highlighted cooperative entrepreneurship and success stories of cooperatives that have benefitted from registering their units as cooperatives,” and Akangjongshi Chang, deputy registrar of cooperative societies, focused on the potential and possible pitfalls of entrepreneurship in Nagaland.

A brief question-and-answer session among the participants concluded the programme.
