Diphu, Aug. 22(EMN): A sit-in demanding immediate implementation of autonomous state was jointly organised by Autonomous State Demand Committee (ASDC), KSA, Karbi Nimso Chingthur Asong (KNCA) and ASDC – Youth Front on Autonomous State issue at Semson Sing Ingti Memorial Park in Diphu on Monday.
In the demonstration, the secretary, incharge of publicity, Daniel Teron blamed the All Party Hill Leaders Conference (APHLC) for autonomous state implementation failure.
Teron said, ‘we should have got the autonomous state in 1969, but the APHLC betrayed us. The hill state movement of APHLC was launched in 1960 but despite several talks with central leaders, the delegations kept silent about the discussion with the people of Karbi Anglong and NC Hills.’
‘The AHPLC leaders agreed to stay with Assam and this is the reason we did not get the autonomous state,’ said Teron.
A memorandum was submitted to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister, Amit Shah through the Deputy Commissioner, Karbi Anglong on the autonomous state issue.
