The department of Political Science, St. Joseph University (SJU), Chümoukedima, in collaboration with Ragapahar Military Station, Dimapur, organised a motivational talk on ‘Join the Indian Army’ on February 21 at SJU seminar hall.
The purpose of the talk was to encourage and guide students who wanted to join the Indian armed forces, an update from the university stated.
The resource person of the talk, Lt. Col. Viren Shekhawat, shared from his more than 10 years of service and said the adventure and prestige associated with the army should motivate one to join the army.
He also highlighted the new Agnipath system and cleared some of the doubts relating to the scheme and the motive of the government in introducing the new recruitment system.
Shekhawat further elaborated in detail the various processes and the eligibility criteria like education, physical and others requirement to join the various department of the Indian armed force. A question and answer session was also held to help clear the doubts of the students.
Earlier, the programme started with singing of the national anthem by Dr. Moameren Pongen. Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Charles, in his welcome address also shared on the discipline and honour associated with the Indian Army. Co-coordinator of the motivational talk programme, Dr. Achanger, proposed vote of thanks. Altogether, 80 students from 2nd semester undergraduate courses participate in the talk, which was chaired by Sunjemmonla Jamir, it stated.
