Skill development key to economic growth, says DC Wokha
DIMAPUR — Deputy Commissioner of Wokha, Vineet Kumar, presented certificates to 45 trainees from two batches in carpentry (suthar/badhai) for successfully completing the Basic Skilling Training under the PM Vishwakarma Scheme at Government ITI, Wokha, on Monday.
Addressing the gathering, Kumar emphasised the critical role of skill development in the economic growth of the Wokha district, according to a DIPR report.
He encouraged the trainees to explore self-employment opportunities by utilising their newly acquired skills to start their own businesses, which would contribute to their livelihoods and the broader economic development of the nation.
Nyanbemo Lotha, Principal In-Charge of ITI Wokha, highlighted in his speech the core objectives of the scheme, which include recognising artisans through the PM Vishwakarma Certificate and offering both basic training lasting five to seven days and advanced training lasting 15 days or more.
The scheme also provides trainees with a stipend, a modern toolkit valued at INR 15,000 free of charge, and links them to credit-based soft loans and marketing support to help expand their businesses.
Anuranjan Singh, project manager of ShishoiOshom-ETF, Wokha, and skill development consultant, urged the trainees to fully utilise their skills for entrepreneurial ventures and to take advantage of the various schemes and policies.
He emphasised the importance of these initiatives in driving sustainable economic growth within the Wokha district.
