“With the support of PlayStation fans, we’ve reached a milestone of 40 million PS5 consoles sold to gamers since launch. Many thanks to our community of players, without you, this would have been an impossible task,” said Ryan in his blog post.
In his blog post, Ryan credited the success of the PS5 to its extensive and diverse game catalogue. The console had launched with the strongest lineup of games in PlayStation’s history, offering over 2,500 titles for gamers to enjoy.
“PS5 launched with the best catalogue of games in our history and the drive for powerful content. From groundbreaking indie games to AAA blockbusters, there are now over 2,500 PS5 games available, and there’s never been a better time to experience your PS5 console. In the last two months alone, we’ve seen incredible content from our allies, including Final Fantasy XVI, Diablo IV, and Street Fighter 6,” wrote Ryan.
Ryan also stressed the significance of community feedback in shaping the PS5’s development.
“We developed PS5 with our community at the forefront of our thinking, which led us to deliver innovations like adaptive triggers and haptic feedback on the DualSense controller, as well as the PlayStation VR2. PlayStation Studios and our third-party partners have jumped in to take advantage of these capabilities and expand their creative toolset to deliver a generational leap in the experiences they deliver to gamers,” said Ryan.
In addition to the console’s success, Ryan acknowledged the popularity of the PS5’s range of accessories. Over the past couple of years, Sony had introduced various ways for players to personalise their gaming experiences, such as the DualSense wireless controller colour combinations and PS5 console skins. These accessories had been well-received by gamers looking to add a personal touch to their gaming setups.
Ryan concluded his blog post by thanking the gaming community for their continuous support and acknowledging the evolving gaming landscape. He promised Sony’s commitment to delivering innovative experiences for gamers worldwide.
