DIMAPUR — A five-day Group ‘E’ of All India Sainik Schools National Games (AISSNG) 2024 got underway on Tuesday at Sainik School Punglwa (SSP) with the deputy commissioner of Peren, Hiazu Meru, as the chief guest of the inaugural ceremony.
An update from SSP stated that the Group ‘E’ of All India Sainik Schools National Games brought together the finest athletic and cultural talents from the five esteemed Sainik Schools in the east zone namely Sainik School Goalpara, Sainik School Imphal, Sainik School Chhingchhip, Sainik School East Siang and the host, Sainik School Punglwa. It added that this year’s event promised a week of intense competition and camaraderie as students showcase their skills across a variety of disciplines including football, basketball, volleyball, hockey, athletics and cultural performances.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Meru emphasised the importance of such events in fostering discipline, teamwork and a spirit of healthy competition among the youth.
“The Sainik Schools National Games are more than just a platform for showcasing athletic prowess; they are a celebration of the values of dedication, hard work and unity that our schools stand for,” said Meru.
Report stated that the five-day event would culminate on August 24 with a series of finals and closing ceremonies. It further stated that participants and spectators are expected to experience a thrilling showcase of sportsmanship and cultural richness, reflecting the high standards and traditions of the Sainik Schools.
