St. Xavier College in Jalukie holds graduation day programme
Dimapur, July 23 (EMN): A total of 85 students from St. Xavier College in Jalukie under Nagaland University were honoured during its 15th graduation day programme held at the college auditorium on July 22. Likivi, top 4th rank holder in History, and other outstanding students were facilitated with certified during the ceremony.
Chairman of United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and former chief minister, TR Zeliang, who was the special guest, congratulated the college and management for providing quality education for past many years and remarked that an educational institution should not only produce good results but more importantly produce good human being. He added that St. Xavier College has become a brand for consistently producing good results.
Zeliang also urged the graduating students to chart the way forward with responsibility to make a positive impact in the society. Citing a phrase from the Bible, Zeliang urged the students to be ‘Salt and light of the world.’
He considered him ‘fortunate’ to have been educated in Catholic institutions at Mbaulwa in Peren district and Dibrugarh in Assam.
Referring to the unproportionate ratio of population and government employees in Nagaland, he asked everyone to look beyond white collar jobs and explore the wide opportunity available around. To take on the world, he said, self-discipline and commitment fueled by hard work will decide one’s future.
The deputy commissioner of Peren, Vineet Kumar, has shared his life-story of becoming an IAS officer and also gave the meritorious awards to the students of various batches, while MLA Picto Shohe has greeted the faculty and gave away tokens of appreciation.
