Students should know their history to take society forward, says Nagaland legislator Kikon

Dimapur, Oct. 15 (EMN): Advisor of Information Technology, Science and Technology, New Renewable Energy, Mmhonlumo Kikon, on Saturday urged students to know their history in order to take the society forward.
“If one doesn’t know one’s own history, one will not become a problem solver or make impact in any conclusive discussions. In order to contribute towards the welfare of the society, one needs to know one’s history which is utmost importance as recording the past forms the part of history,” he said.
Kikon was speaking at the culmination programme of the Dimapur Lotha Students’ Union (DLSU) golden jubilee celebration at the auditorium of Dimapur Government College.
He called upon the young generation to focus on dealing with certain ongoing issues with a positive idea and contributions; be informed and work towards the uplift of the community and the society in general.
Stressing on the importance of unity, which according to him is the strength of a community, he told the gathering to endeavour towards building unity, peace and harmony.
“To unite and live together, we need to comprise, take a step front and back forward when needed,” the advisor said while advising the students to know the value of time and make best use of it.
Greetings were delivered by the president of Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU), Moayanger Jamir, and DDLGBU chairman, K Ntonsi Ngullie.
Chaired by Lopilo Humtsoe and Yansathung Ovung, the programme began with an invocation by Yanbemo, Pastor of Lotha Baptist Church Dimapur. The vote of thanks was delivered by DLSU assistant general secretary, Mercy Ovung, and benediction said by Rev. Thebemo Yanthan, senior pastor of Lotha AG Church, Midland, Dimapur.
