DIMAPUR — The Sumi Council of DC Court Area, Dimapur, in collaboration with the chief medical officer (CMO) Dimapur, organised a dengue awareness programme on September 9 at DC Court fellowship.
On the occasion, the district programme officer for Vector Borne Disease and district surveillance officer, Dr. Kavito Zhimomi, the resource person of the awareness programme, gave a report on the prevailing situation in regard to dengue cases in the state, particularly Dimapur, an update stated.

Underscoring the need to bring the dengue cases under control by way of source reduction, the doctor said the focus should be on cleaning up surroundings where there is stagnant water, clogged drains, and water-filled containers, tyres, and flower pots.
He said these are the hotspots for mosquito breeding and urged the public to clean up these spaces at least twice a week.
Zhimomi also urged the gathering to observe dry days, clean their respective surroundings, and observe all necessary preventive measures.
He also highlighted the symptoms and treatment of dengue and preventive measures.
Further, the senior doctor acknowledged the council for initiating such an awareness programme and urged every stakeholder to join hands with the department in controlling dengue.
