Theluo calls for collaboration between DCs and PDs for ‘People’s Plan Campaign’
DIMAPUR — During the rural development conference 2023, the Rural Development (RD) department released publications titled ‘Activities of the Rural Development Department’ and ‘Nagaland Village Development Board (VDB) Fixed Deposit’ on Monday.
Minister, RD, Metsubo Jamir, and commission and secretary, RD, Neposo Theluo, attended the conference, which was held at the RD conference hall in Kohima.
Addressing the gathering, Jamir congratulated the department for taking up the publications to create awareness of the achievements of the department and make people aware of the activities that are being undertaken in rural areas.
He also termed it necessary to conduct such quarterly departmental conferences and urged upon all project directors (PDs) and block development officers (BDOs) to have a sense of responsibility and duty and make it compulsory to attend the same
Theluo also congratulated the department for coming out with the publications and stressed the need to properly publicise the achievements of the department and to contribute to the success stories of the various schemes being implemented
He further called upon all PDs to tie up with their respective DCs for the successful conduct of the ‘People’s Plan Campaign’ and to play an active role and set up proper gram panchayat development facilitation teams.
He noted that all plans should be developed in such a way that the department can achieve localisation of sustainable development goals.
In her keynote address, director, RD, Azenuo Pienyü, maintained that the main motive behind the conference is to share each other’s achievements and enhance the performances of each district.
She hoped that the release of the ‘Nagaland Village Development Board (VDB) Fixed Deposit’ would motivate the district and block officers to healthy competition, come up with many good and durable assets, and bring development to the far-flung rural areas.
On the occasion, programme officers for Grant-in-Aid, Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana—Gramin, Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, Fifteenth Finance Commission, Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan, and Nagaland State Rural Livelihood Mission presented PowerPoint presentations on the status of each programme.
