DIMAPUR — The scrutiny of the nomination papers for the urban local body (ULB) elections of the Wokha Town Council (WTC) and Bhandari Town Council (BTC) took place on Thursday in the office chambers of the respective returning officers (ROs).
The scrutiny for WTC was overseen by ADC and RO K Furhesie Nyuwi, and for BTC by ADC and RO Longdiba L Sangtam. The process was conducted smoothly at both locations.
In accordance with the order issued by the DC Wokha on June 11, restrictions were implemented for the scrutiny of nominations.
Political parties and candidates were instructed not to organise rallies, processions, marches, public meetings, or displays of strength. Thus, everyday activities and business operations remained unaffected during the process.
Similar scrutiny of nomination papers filed by 17 candidates from nine wards for Chiephobozou Town Council was conducted on Thursday.
According to an update, the ADC of Chiephobozou town and RO, Alemyapang Longchar, examined the nomination papers of the candidates in his office chamber, in the presence of the observer, Additional Secretary S Tainiu Khiamniungan and the candidates in person.
The scrutiny process concluded peacefully.
For the Phek Town Council, scrutiny for the ULB election nominations was conducted at the office chamber of the ADC and RO, Phek, Ruopfukuotuo Noudi, for all 25 intending candidates from various political parties across 11 wards.
