DIMAPUR — The newly appointed Union minister of Jal Shakti, CR Paatil, has assured his support towards fulfilling the vision of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, of ‘Har ghar jal’ and do everything necessary to make both Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) and Swachh Bharat Mission (G) successful in Nagaland.

Paatil made this assurance to the state minister of PHED and Cooperation, Jacob Zhimomi, when the latter called on him in New Delhi on Wednesday. An update stated that Zhimomi has congratulated him on his Lok Sabha victory and subsequently taking charge as union minister and apprised him on the ongoing Jal Jeevan Mission projects in Nagaland, which has made meaningful impact on people’s lives across the state.

Informing that the flagship scheme would soon see its completion by December 2024, Zhimomi reaffirmed his commitment towards 100% tap water connection for all intended beneficiaries. He also informed that tap water connection in the state under JJM has achieved 91.3%.

Report stated that they have discussed water source sustainability and access to bulk water in the village habitations across the state. Also touching on the very important matter of the Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin), which also falls under the Ministry of Jal Shakti, they have exchanged views on sanitation parameters including segregation of solid and liquid waste management in rural and urban habitations.

In the course of discussion, Zhimomi requested Paatil for his unwavering support towards Nagaland, maintaining that the hilly terrain poses significant challenges.

While acknowledging the concerns and appreciating the minister and the Nagaland PHED for the commendable work, Paatil, on his part, has assured his support towards fulfilling PM Modi’s vision of ‘Har Ghar Jal’ and to do everything necessary to make both JJM and SBM (G) successful in Nagaland. The meeting was also attended by union minister of state for Jal Shakti, Dr. Raj Bhushan Choudhury; Vini Mahajan, secretary of Drinking Water and Sanitation department; and Debashree Mukherjee, secretary of Water Resources department, Government of India.
