Water supply project inaugurated at new Naga cemetery

Dimapur, Sep. 24 (EMN): The deputy commissioner of Dimapur, Rajesh Soundarajan, inaugurated the water supply project at the new Naga cemetery in Zani village on September 24.
The water supply project was sponsored by OSD to the state Transport minister, Niholu Ayemi and family, in memory of former president of Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) K Ghokheto Chophy.
Speaking on the occasion, Soundarajan said that everyone has contributed equally in the fight against Covid-19 pandemic. He has particularly appreciated the NGOs, civil society, churches etc., for coming forward along with the government in the fight against the pandemic.
Soundarajan said one lives in a comfortable home when one is alive but it becomes difficult when there is no place burial after one dies. In this regard, he acknowledged NCD for establishing a burial ground for the citizens of Dimapur especially during this crucial time of the pandemic.
He also appreciated the OSD to the Transport minister for sponsoring the water supply project and encouraged to continue the good work. Soundarajan further stated that even though K Ghokheto Chophy is no more with them, he would always be remembered for the works he had done for the people.
On the occasion, Soundarajan also assured that the Dimapur district task force would donate INR 1 lakh to the NCD to be used for those people who cannot effort the burial fees.
During the inauguration programme, NCD president, Etsungmomo Kikon, informed that the 18 bigha land for the new Naga cemetery in Zani village was purchased by Nagaland Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio, and donated to the people of Dimapur. He also informed that the total cost of the water supply project at the new Naga cemetery was INR 3.5 lakh.
The dedication of the project was administered by senior associate pastor of Lotha Baptist Church Dimapur, Yanbemo Lotha, and short speeches were delivered by the wife of K Ghokheto Chophy and OSD to Transport minister, Niholu Ayemi.
