Will promote the culture, identity of Karbi tribe — Assam CM

Diphu, March 6 (EMN): Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday said, “I assure you that I will take initiative to promote the culture and identity of Karbi tribe not only in Assam or India, but to the global arena”.
He was speaking at the closing ceremony of the 48th Karbi Youth Festival (KYF), which was organised by the Karbi Cultural Society (KCS) at Singmirjeng stage, Taralangso.
He further added that a new state university will be set up in Karbi Anglong, an airport will also come up and various new centrally sponsored schemes will be implemented for development of the two hill districts of Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong.
“When there is no medical college in the neighbouring states, there is one in Diphu, which is a privilege for the people of Karbi Anglong. Compared to last five years, Karbi Anglong has witnessed a new change and gone far ahead in the path of development and for this, I appreciate the dedicated and active leader of CEM Tuliram Ronghang”, he said.
The CM further said that an auditorium, Karbi Cultural Centre, Fine Arts College and National School of Drama at Taralangso will be given due importance and set up at Taralangso.
The 48th KYF has ended peacefully, which shows that peace has rooted in Karbi Anglong, he added and said that the signing of a peace accord with the six armed groups in 2021 with the state and central government is an initiative for peace and development.
The best zonal team was won by Diphu-Manja KCS Zone, second position by Den Arong KCS Zone and third position by Tekelangjun KCS zone.
