Winter Cricket Challenge: LCYO, Elite CC progress to quarterfinal
DIMAPUR — The LCYO and Elite CC beat their opponents on Sunday, booking their place at the quarterfinal of the ongoing 28th Winter Cricket Challenge at Wokha.
In the first match, Imperials won the toss and opted to field first. This gave the LCYO the opportunity to set a target of 172 runs in 20 overs losing 6 wickets.
According to an update, the tops scorers for LYCO were Renben with 58 and the ‘man of the match’ title, while Rendemo and Chumben scored 35 and 25, respectively.
The Imperials failed to reach the target despite Abemo Kikon contributing 45, Khyothungo Patton 32, Mhajan Tsanglao 23 and Mhathung 18, they failed to reach the target and LCYO won the match by 19 runs in the 20th over.
In the second match, Elite CC won the toss and opted to bat first. They set a huge target of 215 runs losing just one wicket in 20 overs. The two opening batsmen, Imomemba scored 74, Veri 21 and while the first downed batsman Tapitu scored 94.
The opponent, Rising Stars, failed to reach the target and lost the match by a huge margin of 110 runs losing 8 wickets.
Tapitu was adjudged the man of the match for his 94 runs (not out) in 32 balls.
