DIMAPUR — A 26-year-old woman was found dead in her hotel room in Dimapur.
The woman, whose identity has not been released, was discovered at Hotel Falcon in Burma Camp on the evening of August 31. Hotel staff alerted authorities after receiving no response from her room during routine room checks throughout the day.
Reliable sources informed that Dimapur police reached the hotel at around 8:40 pm, nearly an hour after receiving a call at 7:40 pm. Upon arrival, they found the woman’s body on the bed, partially clothed.
Forensic teams were called to the scene and all formalities were conducted in coordination with the team. A suo moto case was registered at the Women Police Station in Dimapur due to the suspicious circumstances, sources said.
Preliminary investigations revealed the woman had been a long-term resident at the hotel, checking in on August 8 and regularly settling her bills. Her uncle, residing in Ngam village, Peren district, but originally hailing from Lalong village, Peren, was reportedly responsible for her care during this period.
The cause of death remains unclear as the family reportedly refused to proceed with post-mortem examination. While the family has taken custody of the body on Sunday, police will continue the investigation, sources said.
