DIPHU — In an unfortunate incident, a 27 year-old-woman died after she was bitten by a king cobra at her residence in Tarabasa Sonari Terang village in Karbi Anglong district on July 27. The victim was identified as Kareshma Engtipi, spouse of Khorsing Terang. Tarabasa is 69 km from the district headquarters.
According to the family, the incident occurred around 8 am when a king cobra bit the victim on her leg. Soon after the incident, local remedy was applied and was taken to the nearby public health centre for medical attention. She, however, succumbed on the way to the hospital. She left behind a 3-year-old daughter and husband.
The king cobra was taken away by Forest department officials, the family added.
