WSH ask R&B department to respond to ultimatum on road work
DIMAPUR — The Western Sumi Hoho (WSH) has given a 15-day deadline to the PWD (Roads & Bridges) department to respond to the hoho’s ultimatum issued to M/S Vipe Enterprises over non-completion and poor workmanship of NH-29 stretch, from Central Jail (4th Mile) to Atu Ghoki, Hozukhe, Niuland.
The WSH, in a representation to the chief engineer, R&B, pointed out that Vipe Enterprises has completely failed to finish the work within the allotted time frame, despite the previous Extension of Time (EoT) granted to the firm.
“As a result, the Ato Area GBs Union took up the issue that led to the calling of a road bandh in the direction of Niuland under their jurisdiction a couple of months ago, however the firm never acknowledged the request of Ato Area GBs Union and disregarded the works,” the representation stated.
In response to the situation, the WSH said that it intervened and took up the issue, calling for a joint coordination meeting on July 13, 2023, at Hozukhe village.
However, Vipe Enterprises contractor did not turn up but instead instructed the firm’s road supervisor and site engineer to represent him in the joint meeting.
The hoho went on to state that in the joint meeting, a resolution was adopted which called for completion of the work by August 31, 2023, as per the second EoT granted by the R&B department.
However, the concerned contractor began working only for a short period of time before ceasing all work, it stated.
The hoho also informed that a fact-finding team led by WSH general secretary conducted an inspection of the works on September 5, only to find that the ongoing construction was left unfinished.
“During the course of the inspection, it is revealed that not only is the work left unfinished, but the already completed components of the works were found to be in an appalling condition, demonstrating bad workmanship,” the hoho said.
Requesting the department to look into the matter as soon as possible in order to avoid any unfavourable situation, the WSH also insisted that the work must be carried out right away without sacrificing quality, in accordance with the DPR’s specifications.
Failing to meet the deadline, the WSH cautioned that it would be compelled to take legal action, which might result in the concerned company being blacklisted or even lead to closure of R&B office, Dimapur division.
“Additionally, it is also requested that your esteemed office refrain from releasing the remaining balance of the bill to the aforementioned entity without first receiving WSH’s NOC,” the representation added.
