DIMAPUR — The Wokha Village Council (WVC), during its general meeting held on May 25, adopted certain resolutions for peaceful conduct of urban local body elections (ULB) within the district.

In a representation submitted to the additional deputy commissioner (ADC) and returning officer of Wokha Town Council (WTC), the village council has highlighted the outcomes of the meeting wherein it resolved that no member of Wokha village either individually or in groups should indulge in any activities in the upcoming ULB election 2024 within Wokha town colonies except by the members having names in the electoral list.

It also resolved that no intending candidates would be allowed to take the name of the Wokha village or act upon on behalf of Wokha village for campaign. It cautioned that stern action would be taken against any candidate, who defile the resolution to the extent of cancelling his/her candidature.

The village council further resolved to adopt ‘clean election’ in the upcoming Wokha Town Council election.
