DIMAPUR: Taking into consideration the rampant abuse of intoxicant substances and other social evils plaguing the society, the Wokha Village Youth Organisation (WVYO) has decided to undertake periodic surprise checking and initiate stern action against the drug peddlers and bootleggers within its jurisdiction.
The organisation has warned to take stern action against vehicle owners, shopkeepers, persons caught possessing and selling IMLF, which are illegal under NDPS Act.
The organisation, in a press release jointly issued by its president, Chibenthung P Kikon, and the general secretary, Echungthung Murry, informed that any person caught purchasing IMFL liquor/ drugs, found under the influence of drugs or alcohol at any hours would be strongly dealt with as per the organisation’s resolution.
WVYO has, therefore, appealed to all public/ stakeholders to cooperate and report to its office in the event of any illegal activity within its jurisdiction. The organisation further affirmed to extend its full cooperation and support to any organisation, union, NGO, government agencies to curb the menace of substance abuse and addiction in the society.
