Youngster FC win SYU Open Futsal Tournament title

MOKOKCHUNG— Youngster FC emerged champions of the first-ever  SYU Open Futsal Tournament by defeating Trebuchet FC 5-1 at Mojabi Turf, Salangtem Ward, Mokokchung on Friday evening.

Entering the final after not conceding a defeat or a draw in the tournament, Youngster FC maintained the momentum by dominating their opponents — Trebuchet FC – right from the start, thanks to their exceptional teamwork and the ability to convert opportunities into goals.

Awang and Eshung of Youngster FC created some thrilling moments during the match, putting the team ahead by scoring two goals each. Trebuchet FC tried to fight back and Abu reduced the score line of the opponents by scoring a goal but that was not enough. The team then conceded a goal to end score line at 5-1 after the final whistle.

The champions walked away with a cash prize of INR 60,000, while runners-up were awarded with INR 40,000, and the second runners-up — Chargers FC – received INR 10,000.

The individual award winners were given a cash prize of INR 2,000 each along with citations.

Tekameren, PS to Nagaland minister Metsubo Jamir, who was the special guest for the championship match, handed over the trophy and the cash prizes to the winners.

  • Highest Goal Scorer: Abu Chishi of Trebuchet FC with 11 goals
  • Best Goalkeeper: Horlan of Youngster FC
  • Best Striker: Alapou of Havana Team
  • Best Defender: Limawapang of M.I United
  • Most Promising Player: Sentilong of Trebuchet FC
