Zunheboto, Phek observe Cooperative Week
DIMAPUR — The Assistant Registrar of Cooperative Societies (ARCS), Zunheboto, observed the 71st All India Cooperative Week on November 20 at VDB hall in Zunheboto town on the theme ‘Role of cooperatives in building Viksit Bharat’ with the deputy commissioner of Zunheboto, Rahul Bhanudas Mali, as the guest of honour.
Delivering the keynote address, ARCS of Zunheboto, Kenilo Khing, highlighted the aims and objectives of primary agriculture credit societies (PACS) and deliberated on enhancement of efficiency of PACS, computerisation and also gave away computer hard wares to 22 PACS during the celebration,a DIPR report stated.
The objectives of the project was for implementation of common accounting systems (CAS) and information management systems (MIS) to enable PACS to carry out their operations online and obtain financial/ loans for their various activities from NABARD through NStCB, thereby increasing the efficiency of the operation of PACS etc.
It also apprised on the significant contributions of cooperatives to the socio economic development of the state.
The program was attended by Agri. & Allied departments, NStCB officials and representatives from various PACS cooperative societies.
In another programme, Phek district celebrated the 71st All India Cooperative Week at SIRD hall in Phek town on November 20 with the deputy commissioner of Phek, John Tsulise Sangtam, as the special guest.
Addressing the gathering, the DC spoke about the responsibilities of the cooperative societies and encouraged the members of cooperative societies to maintain strong connection and unity among the members to push development through various activities, a DIPR report stated.
Sangtam also spoke on the importance of time management while organising and planning various activities to increase efficiency and productivity.
As part of strengthening the primary agricultural credit society (PACS), the DC also handed over computer sets to 16 selected cooperative societies during the programme.
In his welcome address, the SRCS Phek, Jacob Khing, informed that cooperative societies provide a special platform to explore new avenues of growth by fostering entrepreneurship and promoting inclusive development and also creating sustainable livelihood. Nezelu Nyekha, representing Chakeshang Women Welfare, MPCS Ltd., Pfutsero, also shared about the success story of the cooperative society.
